Who are Registrar and Transfer agents (RTA)?

Registrar and Transfer Agents (RTA) are Institutions associated with a Company to maintain its Investors records. The RTA records transactions such as issuing certificates, sending notices on corporate actions and other details stated below.

RTA’s also handle other details such as:

-Determine which shareholders should receive the shares in IPO, Dividends, Bonus Issue of Shares along with managing the Interest payments in case of Bondholders.

-When a company sets a record date, the RTA verifies the shareholders who own the stock on the record date.

-It indulges in re-materialization, dematerialization, the name change of shares, transfer of shares on death, etc.
