What is a Contract Note?

A Contract Note is a confirmation of the Trades done in your Account on a particular day. It is a record of all trading transactions happened in your Account through Stockbrokers on Stock Exchanges and contains breakup of the Charges incurred in Trade. A Contract Note is sent on client's registered e-mail Id within 24 hours of the executing a trade.

A Contract note contains below mentioned key details.
  1. Unique Client Code (UCC) and Broker’s SEBI Registration Number
  2. Trade Date and Time
  3. Order Number and Trade Number
  4. Name of the Security (Stock/Instrument)
  5. Buy/Sell Quantity and Price
  6. Brokerage Charges
  7. Exchange Transaction Charges
  8. GST, SEBI Turnover Fee, Stamp Duty and other levies
  9. Net Amount Payable/Receivable etc.


Purpose 

  1. Serves as a legal proof of the trade.
  2. Helps investors verify trade accuracy (price, quantity, charges).
  3. Used for accounting, taxation and compliance purposes.
  4. Forms the basis for entries in the Account Ledger Report.
